The future of the insolvent Aluminum Foil Merseburg GmbH and its employees is secured. The insolvency administrator and lawyer Stephan Poppe, a partner at the nationwide law firm Eckert, has found an investor for Aluminum Foil Merseburg GmbH in Merseburg. The Italian aluminum rolling group Slim Aluminium SpA (Slim Group), a company of the international investment group Quantum Capital Partners (Quantum) from Munich, will take over the business operations of Aluminum Foil Merseburg GmbH as of April 30, 2018.

The Aluminum Foil Merseburg GmbH had to file for insolvency in January 2018. In the subsequent sales process led by the consulting firm Falkensteg, the Slim Group ultimately prevailed with the best overall concept. The Italian manufacturer of aluminum rolling products has been a portfolio company of Quantum since 2015. The former subsidiary of Norsk Hydro, based in Cisterna di Latina, expanded its production capacity and product range in 2017 with the acquisition of Slim Fusina Rolling Mill (formerly Arconic) located in Venice, increasing from 92,000 tons to approximately 160,000 tons per year. Through the expansion of production capacity, product portfolio, and technical and operational know-how, the Slim Group, with consolidated revenues of over EUR 340 million, is now the sixth-largest manufacturer of aluminum rolling products in Europe. Through the strategic acquisition of Aluminum Foil GmbH, the Slim Group strengthens its market position in the field of flexible packaging and technical applications. The local operations will be led by Mark Gooseman, who has extensive experience in the international aluminum industry, including the Slim Group.Stephan Poppe, lawyer and partner at the ECKERT law firm, as insolvency administrator in the process:
